Preschool math helps children explore and make sense of their world. It teaches them reasoning and problem solving skills. Even for young children, math is more than a game of numbers. Math has many dimensions, including:
- Number sense:5 is more than 4 and represents five objects
- Geometry: Patterns and Shapes
- Measurement: Size, distance, and amount
- Math Language: More than, less than, equal to
- Spatial Relations: In front of behind, near or far
When you watch a child in the classroom, you will realize how much they use math concepts in a day.

At The Academy of Gateway we are engaging in math concepts daily. This week during our Project Play our mission is Math! The children are doing special projects in the classroom. Math is everywhere in our world. Our teachers do a amazing job putting a spotlight on the math concepts all around us.
