We have kicked off this year by becoming the best fitness fanatics we could possibly be. We have been eating yummy, healthy and fun snacks. Each Friday of this month we have been doing fun activities such as: ABC Yoga. Take a peek!!

Health Snack Station: Lunch for Parents

2017 Kick-Off! We're always so happy to give back to our families. Whether it is a fun snack or activity. We absolutely enjoy doing fun and engaging activities at AoG! This month is all about being a Fitness Fanatic, and we choose to help those who are trying to shed a few pounds from the holiday season. As a Gold Sneaker facility with the State of Tennessee it is our duty to ensure that we are serving our children and encouraging our families to make healthier choices such as fresh foods, plenty of exercise, and regular visits to your doctors. It is an honor to empower parents to make healthy choices for their families.

We made over 100 salads of variety toppings.

I was able to snap a few pictures of the prep before we dished them out Wednesday Morning! Hope everyone enjoyed their yummy lunches (:

Hot Cocoa

What better way to warm up this winter than with a cup hot cocoa! We had a wonderful time with our hot cocoa bar this week. It was super delicious and we were able to catch up with our families about their Holiday's. Our family events are sacred to us here at The Academy of Gateway! This provides a chance to stop and chat with families and friends alike. Each Wednesday we will continue to have our fun family events and would love for you to join us! KINDERGARTEN BOOT CAMP: AN ACADEMY EXCLUSIVE

The Academy is recognized by the community for our kindergarten specific programs including our one-of-a-kind Kindergarten Boot Camp. Our Pre-K program includes hands-on explorations that create new learning connections in language, math, science, social, emotional and physical development. Children investigate “Big Ideas” and are actively involved in seeking answers to their own questions. Intentional daily plans cover a specific range of guidelines that prepare our children to meet and exceed kindergarten readiness standards for both public and private schools. Kindergarten Boot Camp, offered exclusively by Never Grow Up, is a dedicated summer program that teaches important, yet often overlooked, skills needed to navigate kindergarten with confidence. Skills such as remembering a lunch number, carrying a lunch tray or returning a library book are examples of how we “train” our Academy kids to “be all they can be”!

Gold Sneaker Certified

Healthy habits are instilled at a young age, with most habits being formed during adolescence. We feel it important to instill good habits at an early age, addressing behavioral factors that contribute to overweight and obesity from the beginning. The Gold Sneaker initiative was developed to enhance policy related to physical activity and nutrition within licensed child care facilities across Tennessee. Policies we've adopted include minimum requirements on physical activity, sedentary activities, breastfeeding, meal time, behaviors, portion sizes, and a tobacco-free facility. Together, we can create healthy habits for life.
