Green Thumb!

Here at The Academy Of Gateway we have been outdoors in our planter beds this week. The children have learned so much by doing the planting. Children can learn new skills, have fun, play and develop self confidence by spending time in the garden tending plants and growing their own food. Most children love being outdoors and love digging in the soil, getting dirty, creating things and watching plants grow.

Chopped Jr!

This week at The Academy Of Gateway we have learned all about cooking. We have had lots of activities the children can do to help the teachers prepare a treat each day. Letting children help with cooking provides practical experience with many essential skills such as reading, following directions, and measuring. Getting involved in cooking helps children to develop fine motor skills, eye hand coordination, and even early concepts of math and science.

Water Day!

This week at the Academy Of Gateway we had our first water day of the season! The children absolutely loved it. Water play gives many opportunities to develop fine and gross motor skills across age ranges. Children will increase their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination through actions like pouring, squirting, scrubbing, stirring and squeezing.
