Family Cleaning!

Having enough time to keep everything clean can be overwhelming. Between soccer practice and gymnastics families are busier than ever. You look up and realize the week is over and you didn't get a lot of the cleaning done before it starts all over again. Having your little ones help out can take a load off of you. While cleaning you can create fun memories with your little ones and teach them life long lessons.
Here is a great chart to use to get you started:

Bath Time Fun and Safety

Bath time seems to be a love it or hate it for babies and preschoolers. If your little one likes the water than you are excited about giving them one at the end of the day. If you have a little one that is scared you may be more hesitant about bath time. While making bath time fun for your little ones, you also want to be mindful about keeping them safe. When getting your bath ready always make sure you have all your supplies so you don't have to leave the child unattended.

Here are some helpful tips on keeping them safe
  • Be sure to have all your supplies gathered
  • Do not let another child supervise your baby. Children get distracted easily and do not have the skills to react in a emergency.
  • If you have to leave the bathroom, wrap your child in a towel and take him with you.
  • Make sure you check the temperature, 120 degrees or less
  • Place a rubber mat in the tub to make it less slippery

How to Get your Kids Involved In The KItchen

Cooking is a practical way to teach life skills and kids love it! Spending time in the kitchen builds memories and family communication. Your whole family benefits from healthy meals, a sense of shared accomplishment, and you all enjoy each others company. Here are some more great benefits:

  • Build Self-Confidence. Cooking can boost a youngster’s self-confidence.
  • Use of Imagination. Encourage your child to use her imagination to express herself in the kitchen.
  • Sensory Experiences. Children, especially very young children,...
  • Improve Math and Science Skills.

Colleen loves to keep our kiddos here at AOG involved. The children love being her helpers.

The best part is when we get to eat all the yummy stuff together.

Fitness Fanatics!

Here at the Academy of Gateway we have started our Fitness Fanatics this week. We are all about movement and music. The children have gross motor every day but we love to add new additions to our everyday fun. It is important to keep your children active. Moving your body gets your heart beating and increases blood flow, exercise helps nourish skin cells and keep them vital. Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to working cells throughout the body.
