St. Patricks Day

This week at The Academy of Gateway we celebrated St. Patrick's Day. In the United States this day generally celebrates Irish American culture and heritage. From setting leprechaun bait to doing some cool St. patty's day art, we were really into the spirit of St. Patricks day.

Happy International Womens Day!

International Women’s Day is a day that honors women and their rights. It takes place every year on March 8. International Women’s Day dates back to 1911, when many women were fighting for the right to vote. The United Nations began sponsoring the day in 1975.

People around the world celebrate International Women’s Day. In some places, women receive flowers or other gifts. Groups in many countries arrange talks, performances, and other activities. Each year the UN helps to organize events related to a specific women’s rights issue—for example, improving education or ending violence against women.

We asked some of our Pre-K girls what's the best part about being a girl and these answers are some of the best. We explained to them that they have a lot of freedom now because of the women who fought for their rights

"I like being a girl because I like the color pink"

"I like being a girl because I love mommy"

" I like being a girl cause mommy is the best"

"I like being a girl because of gymnastics"

Happy Birthday Dr. Suess!

This Week at The Academy of Gateway we celebrated Dr. Seuss's Birthday! Theodore Seuss Geisel was born on March 2nd, 1904. He got his sense of poetry from his mother. Dr. Seuss credits his mother for inspiring his rhymes, as she told him rhymes at bedtime every night.
This year for his birthday we read "Oh the Places you'll go" and made art. We also passed out a yummy Seussical Snack.
