Fall and Family Time

Today at the AOG we asked the children to share with us what they like to do with their family. Every family is unique and the kids love to share their families favorite things.

It is a great time to start a family tradition. There are so many things to do as a family in the fall. You can take your toddler on a fall color hunt or get lost in a corn maze with your school age children. Here are some great ideas for fall family fun.

Conscious Discipline and Your Child's Emotions

This week at The Academy of Gateway we are talking about our emotions. Children have all emotions that we have as adults and have to be taught how to manage their emotions. We teach children their ABC's, how to ride a bike , but sometimes for get that they have to be taught how to handle their emotions. Conscious discipline in the classroom creates a positive learning environment that fosters social emotional growth. Here are some of the calming techniques we use in the classroom.

Teaching Life Skills To Your Young Child

 Today at The Academy of Gateway was dress yourself day! Dressing yourself is a great life skill that teaches independence and decision making. 

Basic life skills are often overlooked.  They are very important in development and growth. Children feel more confident when they can do things for themselves, even though it may take more time and cause a mess. Open House: Getting to Know Your Preschool

Last Thursday we kicked off the school year with our annual Open House. We had a great time getting to know our preschool families. During this time parents get to know their child's teacher, support staff as well as other parents. It is a huge part of building a school family.

The School Family builds connections between families and schools, teachers and teachers, teachers and students, and students and students to ensure the optimal development of all. The School Family is created through routines, rituals, and structures. This creates a fundamental shift in education and classroom management. Stepping into a world where intrinsic motivation, helpfulness, problem-solving and connection govern your classroom.
