Movement!

This week at The Academy Of Gateway is movement. Research suggests that promoting movement and activity in young children can help increase memory, perception, language, attention, emotion and even decision making. When language is combined with movement, learning increases 90 percent. Movement has also been shown to help calm and promote alertness in infants. We had a special visitor from Tippi Toes Dance Studio!

Lets Build!

This week at The Academy Of Gateway we have been all about building. Exposure to blocks, large shapes, and other building materials helps promote awareness of size and space relations, while also grounding the child in more refined awareness of his own body and large motor skill. Utilizing big materials to stack, roll, pile, smash, and balance.

Ooey Gooey Week!

This week at The Academy Of Gateway is Ooey Gooey Week! The children have learned all about diffrent sensory activities. We have done everything you can think of with shaving cream! It is also a fantastic way to introduce children to basic concepts of matter. In addition to learning about science concepts, Oobleck is also great for the development of fine motor skills as children work and strengthen their little hand muscles while engaged in sensory play Shaving cream encourages children to manipulate and mould materials, building their fine motor skills and coordination.
