Textured Bottles; Infants Sensory Activity!

 

Sensory play is an important part in a child's development. Children use their senses to explore and try to make sense of the world around them. They do this by touching, smelling, tasting, seeing, moving, and hearing. Our infants explored through sensory play by touching textured bottles. Although conversations with infants are typically one way, research indicates that these experiences , along with singing songs and reading books, will enhance both the structure and capacity of wiring for future language development and ultimately for success with reading.

FrogStreet Curriculum

 

It has been a fun week here at The Academy of Gateway, from Mr. Bond the science guy to diving deep into our curriculum. This week some of our friends focused on Family pets and talked about the different pets people own. We also talked about our favorite pets, drew our pets, and discussed why we love them. Pets are apart of our family and a lot of families couldn't imagine life without them. What pet is apart of your family?

Pumpkin Investigation Station!

 

This week at The Academy of Gateway we investigated pumpkins. We talked about how the pumpkins felt, what we could make with pumpkins, how the pumpkins smelled, and we measured the pumpkins with blocks to see how tall they are. Some classes even picked the seeds out and planted them in the garden to grow. This was such a fun activity for everyone and we cant wait to watch our very own pumpkin patch grow.

Fire Safety Week!

 

This week at The Academy we talked about Fire safety! We sent home fire safety plans and learned where our smoke detectors and fire extinguishers are. Clifford also came and talked to us about how to call 911 in case of an emergency. We had an epic dance party to the 911 song and learned what to do if our clothes caught fire; STOP, DROP, AND ROLL!

Fall Festival 2021!

Every year The Academy of Gateway brings fall in with a blast. Our Annual Fall Festival was held on the last week of September and this was one for the books. This year we had bounce houses, a balloon guy, food, games with prizes, an awesome hay ride, and face painting. We love getting to connect with our families outside of school and we look forward to many more Fall Festivals with our AoG Family!
