Fall Festival 2022!

Last Friday we held our annual fall festival here at The Academy of Gateway! We had a hayride, an interactive sports game, face painting and tattoos, Chili cook-off contest, as well as a pumpkin decorating station. Our families had a blast, and we can't wait to do it next year.

Self Portraits

Self-portraits are a great way to support children's self-concept and identity, as well as creativity and fine motor skills. In this learning activity, children will be encouraged to identify, as well as creativity and fine motor skills. In this learning activity, children will be encouraged to identify their own facial features in their reflection, interpret their positioning and replicate on paper. These kiddos had a blast drawing their self in their own personal image!

Welcome Back to School!

Last week at The Academy of Gateway we rocked back to school week with our fun Frog Street Curriculum! Our toddlers' studied "All About me" while our Preschool & Pre-k kiddos studied "Physical me". We identified our weekly letters in the morning message and also did some fun activities that went with our monthly theme. We are so excited for the school year and can't wait to see what it holds!

Decades Week

This week at The Academy of Gateway we celebrated decades week! On Monday we dressed like our friends from the 60's, Peace & Love! On Tuesday we Dressed up from the 70's, Groovy! On Wednesday we dressed like the people from the 80's, Totally Rad! On Thursday we dressed up as 90's babies, All that and a bag of chips! We had a blast dressing up for the different decades. What better way to end summer than celebrating the decades!

KINDERGARTEN BOOT CAMP: AN ACADEMY EXCLUSIVE

The Academy is recognized by the community for our kindergarten specific programs including our one-of-a-kind Kindergarten Boot Camp. Our Pre-K program includes hands-on explorations that create new learning connections in language, math, science, social, emotional and physical development. Children investigate “Big Ideas” and are actively involved in seeking answers to their own questions. Intentional daily plans cover a specific range of guidelines that prepare our children to meet and exceed kindergarten readiness standards for both public and private schools. Kindergarten Boot Camp, offered exclusively by Never Grow Up, is a dedicated summer program that teaches important, yet often overlooked, skills needed to navigate kindergarten with confidence. Skills such as remembering a lunch number, carrying a lunch tray or returning a library book are examples of how we “train” our Academy kids to “be all they can be”!

Gold Sneaker Certified

Healthy habits are instilled at a young age, with most habits being formed during adolescence. We feel it important to instill good habits at an early age, addressing behavioral factors that contribute to overweight and obesity from the beginning. The Gold Sneaker initiative was developed to enhance policy related to physical activity and nutrition within licensed child care facilities across Tennessee. Policies we've adopted include minimum requirements on physical activity, sedentary activities, breastfeeding, meal time, behaviors, portion sizes, and a tobacco-free facility. Together, we can create healthy habits for life.
