Math & Science Learning

Pre-K did a math and science learning activity where they made models of squares and circles. They also found squares and circles around the classrooms and enrichment room. They read a book about shapes and then drew pictures using strictly shapes.

Show & Share

Every week at The Academy of Gateway our older classrooms hold Show and Share. This is a time where every child gets a chance to shine in the spotlight. They bring one special item a week to show and share with their friends and teachers.

The Amazing Dean Alan

This week at The Academy we had The Amazing Dean Alan come and visit. Dean Alan did an awesome winter show for all of our kiddos. They talked about the cold weather and how it snows in the winter. We also sang Frozen songs and Olaf came to visit. We had so much fun with The Amazing Dean Alan, we can't wait for him to come back and visit.

Letter Recognition

Letter recognition is one of the five pre-reading skills that your preschoolers and kindergarteners need to know before they can learn how to read.

Learning all about letters and having opportunities to use them in different contexts will help your kids develop the skills they’ll need for reading success throughout their life.

Social Emotional Development

During their first few years of life, children’s brains are rapidly developing, as is their capacity to learn essential social and emotional skills. Social and emotional development in the early years also referred to as early childhood mental health, refers to children’s emerging capacity to:

  • Experience, regulate and express a range of emotions.
  • Develop close, satisfying relationships with other children and adults.
  • Actively explore their environment and learn.

For most infants and young children, social and emotional development unfolds in predictable ways. They learn to develop close relationships with caregivers, soothe themselves when they are upset, share and play with others, and listen and follow directions. All these signs indicate positive early social and emotional development. Social and emotional development is a part of our Curriculum here at The Academy and we love to see how this helps a child over the years.
