Earth Day 2022!

Last week at The Academy of Gateway we celebrated Earth Day. Earth Day is special for all of us to celebrate the Earth and all it gives to us. Earth day is celebrated every year on April 22nd. Everyday more and more pollutants pour into our water, air, and land. Lakes, rivers, and coastal shores are becoming dangerous and harmful. It is up to us to recognize these problems and figure out how to solve them. Having a day to create this awareness is why we celebrate Earth Day. We celebrated earth day by talking about different ways to keep the earth clean and healthy. We also did some fun activities to show our love for the earth. 

Cognitive Development - Mirror Reflection!

 

At one month, babies can lift their heads briefly when placed on their tummies. By the end of the second month, babies can hold their heads for a few seconds. By the end of the third month, babies can lift their head and chest and hold the position for several seconds. Our teachers in Infant 1 placed each child in front of a mirror to help them develop strong neck muscles as well as discuss what they saw in the mirror.

Week of the Young Child!

                                                                                     

This week at The Academy of Gateway we are celebrating Week of the Young Child. Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The focus of The Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. Week of the Young Child is typically held April 2nd- April 8th. We celebrated by doing lots of fun activities.

    Music Monday: We made musical egg shakers and had a parade!

Tasty Tuesday: We had some yummy spring yogurt cups!

Work together Wednesday: We made a classroom mural!

Artsy Thursday: Mother Goose came to visit!

Family Friday: Chalk Our Walk!

Bike day!

Here at The Academy of Gateway, we were able to enjoy the weather and ride our bikes. This was a great way to kick off the beginning of April. Not only is bike day fun, but riding bikes daily can be beneficial for your child. When you teach your kids to ride a bike, they develop their entire body of muscles. Riding a bike is also linked to bone health and strength in children. Most importantly, it helps develop the lungs and heart of your child.
