Meet the Toddlers

What is a toddler?! A toddler is a child age 12-24 months. Here at The Academy of Gateway we have 2 toddler classrooms. We have our Toddler 1 classroom, 12-18 months and our Toddler 2 classroom, 18-24 months. The ratio in our toddler classrooms is 1:6. In our Toddler 2 classroom the teachers start introducing the children to the potty. They take the kiddos to the potty every 2 hours.. The kiddos LOVE going potty.. Many of them are staying dry all day while they are at school before they even turn 2 and go into our Preschool 1 class!!

Meet Miss Tracy!!

Miss Tracy is the Lead Teacher in our Toddler 1 classroom, she has been in childcare for over 8 years and with The Academy since June 2013. Miss Tracy started out as a floater and worked very hard to earn her Lead Teacher position in our Toddler 1 class after Miss Christine was promoted to Assistant Director at AoHC. Miss Tracy loves the Toddlers, and 12-18 months are her very favorite! Miss Tracy is Baby Sign Certified and has attended TECTA. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Meet Mrs. Brittany R. and Mrs. Brandi!!

Mrs. Brittany Robinson is one of our Toddler 2 teachers, she has been working in childcare for over 2 years and has been with The Academy since September. Mrs. Brittany started as a closer in our Infant classrooms and she moved up very quickly to our Toddler classroom. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband as well as friends and other family.

Mrs. Brandi is our other Toddler 2 teacher, she has been in childcare for over 15 years and has been with The Academy since January. Mrs. Brandi has her Early Childhood Education Certificate from Motlow State Community College, she has also been on the management side of things and finds that the classroom is her passion. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her children and her husband!

We are so blessed to have these amazing ladies with us here at AoG loving on all of our Toddlers. These ladies love each and everyone of the babies as if they were their own.

The Academy is recognized by the community for our kindergarten specific programs including our one-of-a-kind Kindergarten Boot Camp. Our Pre-K program includes hands-on explorations that create new learning connections in language, math, science, social, emotional and physical development. Children investigate “Big Ideas” and are actively involved in seeking answers to their own questions. Intentional daily plans cover a specific range of guidelines that prepare our children to meet and exceed kindergarten readiness standards for both public and private schools. Kindergarten Boot Camp, offered exclusively by Never Grow Up, is a dedicated summer program that teaches important, yet often overlooked, skills needed to navigate kindergarten with confidence. Skills such as remembering a lunch number, carrying a lunch tray or returning a library book are examples of how we “train” our Academy kids to “be all they can be”!

Gold Sneaker Certified

Healthy habits are instilled at a young age, with most habits being formed during adolescence. We feel it important to instill good habits at an early age, addressing behavioral factors that contribute to overweight and obesity from the beginning. The Gold Sneaker initiative was developed to enhance policy related to physical activity and nutrition within licensed child care facilities across Tennessee. Policies we've adopted include minimum requirements on physical activity, sedentary activities, breastfeeding, meal time, behaviors, portion sizes, and a tobacco-free facility. Together, we can create healthy habits for life.
