Summer fun has continued at the Academy of Gateway with two exciting themes that kept our students learning, exploring, and creating through hands-on experiences.
During Under the Sea Week, our classrooms dove into an ocean of discovery. Students created their own under-the-sea sensory jars, filling them with colorful materials that brought the beauty of the deep blue sea to life. They also explored fluffy sea foam, using their senses to investigate different textures while enjoying a little messy fun.
Creativity was in full swing as our little learners designed pasta coral reefs, learning about the colorful underwater habitats that sea creatures call home.
The following week, we proudly celebrated We Are America Week by exploring the colors, symbols, and traditions that make our country unique. To start off the week, families received Pop Rocks grab-and-go treats. A crackling surprise that tied perfectly into our U.S pride week and made for a fun take-home experience. Students created their own American flags through hands-on art projects while practicing fine motor skills and learning about what the flag represents.
Our classrooms also featured a red, white, and blue sensory experience, allowing children to scoop, pour, and explore patriotic colors through play. These activities encouraged curiosity, creativity, and sensory development while bringing our theme to life.
From ocean exploration to patriotic celebrations, our summer continues to be filled with meaningful learning, creative play, and unforgettable memories. We can't wait to see what adventures are still to come at the Academy of Gateway! 🌊❤️🤍💙
